David "Davisito" Navarro & Horacio "El Negro" Jazz CubanoCuban trumpeter David Davisito Navarro, a rising voice in modern Cuban jazz now based in New Orleans, is known for his versatility, charisma, and collaborations with artists like Emilio Morales, El Nio y la Verdad, and Jos Alberto El Canario. Since relocating in 2023, hes become a regular presence with groups including the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and Delfeayo Marsalis Uptown Jazz Orchestra, with performances that frequently sell out at Snug Harbor. Joining him is legendary drummer Horacio El Negro Hernandez, whose remarkable career spans work with icons like Gonzalo Rubalcaba, McCoy Tyner, Carlos Santana, and Tito Puente, along with Grammy-winning recordings and deep ties to New Orleans through projects like Los Hombres Caliente.
Following the evenings performance, we will celebrate Horacio El Negro Hernandezs birthday with a special late set with a Cuban descarga meaning jam session. Expect surprise visiting Cuban musicians, tons of local Cuban artists and, ofcourse, plenty of New Orleans best performers on hand to honor and celebrate this legend of Cuban and Latin Jazz.
