Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its roots are in blues, ragtime, European harmony, African rhythmic rituals, spirituals, hymns, marches, vaudeville song, and dance music. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation.
About This Event
Suren Arustamyan is an Armenian born guitarist, singer and songwriter. Drawn to music at the age of 14, he started playing the guitar. He formed his first band in 2007 and started playing live shows for blues-rock lovers in his hometown Yerevan.
Suren followed his passion and landed a spot on the talent competition show Armenian Idol in 2009, which quickly made him popular household name. LIVE! SAT, FEB 28 at 8:30PM.
Dinner begins at 7:00pm. Known for his superior skills as a guitarist, he is also a stellar singer and a songwriter. In 2014 Suren was invited to Los Angeles for a series of concerts and recording by Grammy winning producer Taj Mahals own Tony Braunagel.
Recently Suren recorded his first studio album I Am Free with producer Tim Carmon and his dream band, which included legendary internationally known artists, Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Abe Laboriel Jr, Courtney Leonard and others.
