But dont let the suits fool you, the band comes from an improvised rock tradition, and has years of experimentation behind their tight arrangements. Because all six members are multi-instrumentalists and avid improvisers, their concerts continue to evolve nightly. SQUID ROW ORCHESTRABorn from an organic jam in the legendary Squid Row alley of downtown Santa Cruz, the Squid Row Orchestra has evolved into a vibrant 9-piece collective and a favorite of the local dance scene.

They play American classics from the blues, soul, and disco idioms, infused with a modern energy that feels entirely their own. Expect soaring vocals, a soulful horn section, and deep grooves that leave plenty of room for the bands improvisational spirit. But most of all, expect to dance.
