Madahoochi

Madahoochi plays a high energy blend of rock, funk, jazz, soul, and pop and has been something of an institution in the St. Louis scene for some time now. Formed in 95-96 the band has played hundreds of shows most years since their inception, sporadically wandering outside the greater St. Louis area to various venues across the midwest and a number of festivals. Despite local reknown , they have only gained limited recognition outside their home city and a few regional college towns - Columbia and Springfield in MO, Carbondale IL, etc. Madahoochi's live performances are very interactive, improvisational, and dynamic. They often collaborate with the musicians of other bands they share the stage with, especially when sharing the bill with bands of the midwest they have become friends with - Speakeasy, 56 Hope Road, The Station, Bockman, Family Groove Company, etc. Madahoochi has four albums - "Movin' On", their first; 2002's "Big Bang Medley" next, the first album with the current lineup; then 2005's "In Fantastic Stereo", and then in 2007 a live album "Live in the Loop." They also recently released a 4-song "EP" called "Square One" which is only available on the internet. This latest features "Johnny Walker", "Text Slut", "Real Time", and "Today My Friends Left School." In addition, Madahoochi recently released a music video for their song Text Slut, directed by Spooky Daly of Spooky Daly Pride. Madahoochi is: Scott Rockwood - lead guitar, vocals Shawn Hartung - keyboards, vocals Beto Moreno - Bass Joe Winze - Drums On occasion, Madahoochi also features Adam Rugo - of Nuclear Percussion Ensemble - on percussion. Madahoochi allows taping of their shows and many recordings can be found at http://www.archive.org/details/Madahoochi . About This Event

MadahoochiOctober 24, 2026Atomic GarageDoors: 8:00PMShow: 8:30PMThirty years of music, friendship, memories, family, mayhem, and unforgettable moments on and off stage is something worth celebrating. Madahoochi has been delivering original music providing those moments, and bringing people together in the St. Combining notes and elements of rock, blues, world beat, funk, and much more with pop sensibilities, soaring harmonies, and well crafted original songs, Madahoochi has been one of the quintessential midwestern genre bending and description defying bands on the scene for as long as most can remember.

Over the last 30 years, there have been incredible hi-lights and unforgettable moments with the Hooch. In a time where the festival circuit was vast and impressive in the midwestern portion of the country, Madahoochi was a key part of several of these large- scale, multi-day events, including raging sets at Wakarusa, 10K Lakes, Salmon Fest, and MoRoots. Who could forget the amazing summer night under the Arch opening for Little Feat in front of an amazing throng of St.

Louis music freaks on the steps and by the river?. We could fill pages with fond memories of these amazing musical moments. Like anything that is finely crafted and pure, that takes time, effort and continuity.

So. just try to imagine having a weekly Monday night musical residency in a basement venue room in a low ceiling club every monday night for years starting at 9pm in a dark shotgun room packed full of frenzied fans, friends, local musicians, curious onlookers, industry folks drinking on their night off and more all singing along and losing their minds.. EVERY Monday night.

For years, thats exactly what Madahoochi did with their Madahoochi mondays at Ciceros. Playing high energy, multi-set, and original shows that were so vibrant and important that several of those shows were recorded and later released as the Live in the Loop album. You can hear the audience screaming and calling for more between songs over and over again.

Its a glimpse into the mysticism and magic of a time period in the St. Louis music scene.. AND it was always on a Monday night.

Those weekly Mondays helped to create a vast, loyal, caring, and communal following who still loves this band 30 years later.
