Kontravoid

The name Kontravoid belongs on a limited run cassette circa 1980-something, the type of tape buried in lost upstate dustbins of pre-MIDI analog electronics, wedged between Cabaret Voltaire and Das Ding. The dark industrial and new wave influences are strong on ex-Crystal Castles drummer Cam Findlay’s new project—his voice is scary, like an echoing underwater growl—but the underlying pop melodies always afford a degree of breathing room. The artist Felix Kalmenson has already produced two great Kontravoid music videos: “Native State,” the album’s most instantly rewarding song (owing to interestingly doubled male-female vocals) and its most aggressive, “Killed in Action.” Kontravoid is on sale now from Bandcamp and iTunes, courtesy of Tarantula X. - Duncan Cooper, The Fader www.kontravoid.com www.facebook.com/kontravoid . About This Event

s masked mystique has remained for over a decade. Ever since the releaseof his self-titled LP in 2012, the Canadian-born, Los Angeles-based Cameron Findlayhas perfected dark pop with his oeuvre that teeters between the EBM, electro and gothgenres. s Faceless, dive to themost derelict corners of foggy, strobe-lit clubs: there is no choice but to dance.

s attention with his powerful performancethat balances his specific concoction of harsh beats with his signature bass linerhythmic patterns. , Drab Majesty and Hide, and has remixed the likes of Schwefelgelb and Kris Baha. - Andi Harriman BUZZ KULLBuzz Kull is the solo project of Sydney-based musician and producer MarcDwyer.

Since 2012, Buzz Kull has been blending elements of darkwave, EBM,and synth-pop into a sound thats dark, dissonant, and danceable. His earlywork, including his 2017 debut Chroma and 2018s New Kind of Cross, wasdefined by stripped-back production and a fascination with minimal synthtextures. Over time, Dwyers sound has grown harder and more precise.

His 2022 albumFascination, released through Italian label Avant! Records, marked a turningpoint - a sleek, focused collection of dark dance tracks that channel the energyof late-80s body music. Outside of Buzz Kull, Dwyer is a frequent collaborator and remixer, workingwith artists across the darker ends of electronic music.

He has touredextensively throughout Europe, the US, LATAM, and Asia, sharing stages withcontemporaries like Cold Cave, Boy Harsher, Kontravoid, and Spike Hellis.
