Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its roots are in blues, ragtime, European harmony, African rhythmic rituals, spirituals, hymns, marches, vaudeville song, and dance music. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation.

Ease into the evening with the sounds of Chicago jazz at Three Top Lounge. Drummer/percussionist/Dj/composer Alex Santilli (known as Anacleto) is a Chicago native and current percussionist for soul giants Thee Sacred Souls, as well as playing in a plethora of Chicago groups/collectives. Ranging everywhere from jazz to the free/avant garde, Afro Cuban, Brazilian, contemporary groove/beat and soul music.
The self proclaimed Ethnomusicologist has traveled all over the globe doing fieldwork, in search of the rhythms/songs that bind humanity. His music selections and performances reflect a deep respect for the history and origins, showcasing their roots across different genres and cultures. While always moving forward with current musical styles and genres, Anacleto remains grounded in classics.
