William "Iam" Guy Tongi is an American singer who won season 21 of American Idol. He is the first person from Hawaii, the first Pacific Islander, and the first non-country genre singer in three years, to win the competition. He is also the first winner to have been born after the show's premiere on June 11, 2002.

Iam Tongi grew up immersed in the deeply musical tradition of his Hawaiian culture. After losing his father and nearly giving up music completely, Tongis mother secretly signed him up for American Idol. His viral performance of James Blunts Monsters became one of Idols all time highlights, and he went on to win Season 21, becoming the first Pacific Islander to ever win the show.
2025 marks a creative transition for Tonigi, he is leaning into his musical roots, but also the man he has become.
