Across the world, families have endured separation, communities have mourned, and many have searched for peace, comfort, and healing. In times of sorrow, we are reminded that suffering knows no borders---and neither should compassion. Yet even in difficult times, there are moments that draw us closer.

Through music, art, tradition, celebration, and remembrance, people gather across cultures and continents to share joy, offer comfort, and dream together. In those moments, the distance between us seems to disappear, revealing the bonds that have always connected us. The same sun rises over each of us.

The same moon watches over those we love. The same stars that guided our ancestors continue to shine above us today. Wherever we may stand upon this earth, we are all bajo un mismo cielo --- under one sky.

Día de los Muertos reminds us that love knows no borders. Memory belongs to us all. Grief belongs to us all.
